Pamer Lab

Gastroenterology fellow Matt Odewald, M.D., Ph.D., joined the Pamer Lab in April, 2021. While in the lab, Matt plans to study the impact of the intestinal microbiome on the development of liver disease and its complications.  Matt received his MD/PhD from UChicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where he studied epithelial cell biology in the laboratory of Dr. Jerrold Turner. During his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology, he developed an interest in the complexity of caring for patients with liver disease.
