Pamer Lab

Nhu Nguyen, PhD

Postdoctoral Scholar

Nhu is interested in studying bacterial pathogenesis. She worked for seven years as a research assistant in a tuberculosis laboratory in Vietnam, then went on to earn a PhD in Microbiology in 2020 from Michigan State University. During her graduate studies in the laboratory of Dr. Yann Dufour, she investigated how enteric pathogens navigate through the intestinal mucus layer to establish an infection. Nhu joined the Pamer laboratory in January, 2021 and is working on intestinal infection with Clostridioides difficile, an important pathogen in hospitalized patients. Her work focuses on the ability of different C. difficile strains to penetrate the dense mucus layer.
